The radiative and thermodynamic seasonal factors of the Arctic climate warming | 5 | | Several factors forming the Arctic climate are considered. Model estimates of contribution of both sea surface temperature and sea ice extent changes during two periods 1980–1989 and 2002–2011 are shown. Also seasonal changes of meridional energy transport into the high northern latitudes (to north of 70° N) are discussed. There is their relevant analysis. Global atmospheric model of Main Geophysical Observatory is used in the study. Keywords: Arctic, global warming, atmospheric circulation model, greenhouse effect, observations, model estimations.

in the southwestern Kara Sea | 12 | | One analyzes the climatic characteristics of en-route discontinuities in close drifting ice at the cold time of the year, calculated at traditional navigation routes in the southwestern Kara Sea from data of satellite low resolution images. The correlation relations between the indicators of en-route discontinuities were revealed. The route segments with the increased and decreased values of their total length and recurrence were determined. The peculiarities of intra-seasonal variations of these characteristics were considered. The navigation route, which is the most favorable for their detection and use, was determined for each month from December to May taking into account both climatic indicators. Keywords: satelite images, navigation routs in winter, recurrence of the cases presents of en-route fractures, length of en-route fractures along the routs.

On the Influence of the Interannual Variability of Atmospheric Cyclones on the Frequency of Dangerous Sea Level Rise in the East of the Gulf of Finland | 27 | | The long-term changes of various characteristics of atmospheric cyclones over the Baltic Sea in the context of their impact on the interannual variability of the frequency of dangerous sea level rise in the east of the Gulf of Finland Investigated are investigated. Analysis of trends and correlations revealed no relationship between by frequency of the Neva floods and the dynamics of cyclones. It is assumed that a possible cause of a significant increase in the frequency of flooding at the estuary of the Neva River in recent decades may vary baroclinic conditions of the Baltic Sea as a result of global warming Keywords: Baltic Sea, Neva floods, characteristics of atmospheric cyclones, interannual variability, variance analysis, quantile analysis, assessment of trends, cross-correlation analysis.

in the surface waters of eurasian part of the Arctic Ocean | 37 | | Oceanographic data from “North Pole - 34”, “North Pole - 35” ice camps and R/V “Akademik Fedorov” 26th cruise was analyzed to investigate carbon dioxide partial pressure Р(СО2) distribution in surface waters of Eurasian part of the Arctic Ocean. Two drastic different areas in features of variability of interest were identified. The 1st area encompasses Nansen basin and adjacent part of the continental slope. The Р(СО2) variability in surface waters within this area is mainly determined by water masses of Atlantic origin which initially are in unsaturated condition. The photosynthesis caused СО2 input and СО2 absorption from atmosphere nearly compensate each other within these waters. Organic matter produced by photosynthesis seems to leave the surface water layer. Thus the matter remineralization process does not result the СО2 increase in surface waters. This area provides an effective СО2 outflow. The 2nd area lays to the east of Lomonosov Ridge and includes some part of Amundsen basin. The surface waters in the area are oversaturated by СО2. This effect is caused by remineralization process in application to organic matter Corg produced by photosynthesis along with Corg oxidation of the organic matter which rivers bring to the Arctic basin as well as Bering sea waters input. The remineralization process takes place within the surface waters due to high density stratification which suppress Corg transport to the deeper ocean layers. The СО2 accumulated in surface waters of this area may enter the atmosphere in certain circumstances. Keywords: surface layer, Arctic Ocean, СО2.

in Northwest Atlantic and Nordic Seas and climate changes | 48 | | Oceanography of the Northwest Atlantic and Nordic Seas is influenced by similar large-scale processes: the North Atlantic Oscillation in the atmosphere and the Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation in the ocean, which act on both areas inversely. Variability of the atmosphere and ocean circulations forms thermohaline anomalies in different layers of both regions. Time series of these anomalies are investigated to find relations between both areas and estimate the role of atmospheric circulation. Keywords: Northwest Atlantic, Nordic Seas, Labrador Sea, Greenland Sea, thermohaline anomalies, atmospheric circulation.

in the north-eastern part of the Caspian sea | 62 | | Results of ice bending strength researching in the north-eastern part of the Caspian Sea are reviewed in this paper. Ice strength properties definition was realized by cantilever and small beams break up. Cantilever beams were made in level ice. Small beams were broken with three-point bending method using. Thickness ice sheet salinity and temperature measurements were carried out in parallel. In this paper full-scale test results are compared with calculated values of ice bending strength has gotten with using of well-known correlations according to brine volume fraction in ice. Keywords: bending strength, cantilever beam, brine volume fraction.
| | V.G. Korostelev, L.M. Savatyugin, V.N. Smirnov. Observations of nordenskjold
glacier dynamics by a seismometric method | 69 | | In this paper characteristics of cyclic displacement of the Nordenskjold glacier obtained with seismometer СМЕ4111 in July – August 2012–2013 are discussed. Sensors of this type are reliable in exploitation, consume low energy, and work in wide temperature and frequency range, practically insensible to installation angles. Using seismometers, a possibility to evaluate glaciers dynamics by parameter results of low-frequency processes is appeared. Discussed processes of discontinuous slip in the glaciers characterize moving glacier as a non-linear dissipative system with all its inherent properties. Total movement of the glacier is instable slip in the system of glacier blocks as a movement of separate block but in greater time scale. It has all signs of self-excited oscillations, which are internal property of the system; rhythm of movement is controlled by the system not by external action. Keywords: Nordenskjold glacier, seismometric method, ice dynamics, self-excited oscillations.
| | E.S. Novikhina. Quaternary benthic foraminifera from the Podvodnikov Basin
(Arctic ocean) | 81 | | The piston core from the Podvodnikov Basin was studied for foraminiferal abundance counts, and benthic species identification. The upper part of the core reveals three abundance maximum of benthic and planktic foraminifera, which we believe are corresponded to MIS 1, 5 and 7. The lower part of the core is marked with two other abundance peaks of planktic foraminifera. Calcareous benthic foraminifera were not found below 186 cm in the core, but at 186–188 and 248–252 cm depth layer increased content of agglutinated species and its fragments were revealed. Keywords: foraminifera, paleoceanography, Arctic ocean, Podvodnikov Basin.

The detailed scheme of distribution of icebergs at the Southern ocean. | 89 | | Observation over icebergs on routes of navigation of vessels of RAE for the semicentennial period of 1956–2005 are processed. The constructed scheme reproduces real, “tape” distribution of icebergs at the Southern ocean which displays a mean annual picture of circulation of the surface water, having stream character. New estimates of number, the sizes, volume of the Antarctic icebergs and the area of their modern area are received. The analogy in development of ice conditions in the Weddell Sea at the beginning of the XXI century is discussed with events of a century ago. Keywords: Southern ocean, icebergs, distribution, quantity, sizes, volume, current trend.

of hydrological characteristics in the eastern part of the Gulf of Finland
on the basis of measurements at the automatic bottom station SPB SOI | 97 | | The analysis of temperature, salinity and current measurements by the automatic bottom station of SPb Branch of SOI in 2010–2012 years was executed, The peculiarities of small-scale, mesoscale and synoptic variability of these hydrological characteristics. Intensive small-scale fluctuations of temperature and salinity are connected with the dynamics of high-frequency gravitation internal waves. Statistical analysis in mesoscale range allowed to confirm the identification of Neva flood waves, which was offered earlier, as the baroclinic topography waves. The interrelation of synoptic scale currents with tangential stress of the wind was investigated. Keywords: Automatic bottom station, temperature, salinity, current velocity, statistical analysis, different scale variability, Neva floods, correlation coefficient, vector analysis, tensor invariants.
